The Power of Water: For Your Mood, Your Energy, Your Spirit
There’s something about water.
When the air gets heavy — emotionally or otherwise — I turn to it.
Not just to rinse off the day, but to return to myself.
Whether it’s a shower, a dip in a pond, a bath by candlelight, or even plunging my hands into the sink full of soapy dishes — water shifts things. It dissolves the static. It gives your energy somewhere to go. It’s medicine. Elemental, ancient, alive.
When my son was two, I started to really notice this. Someone had mentioned it to me as I was having a difficult time navigating my sons moods - get him into water, they said. Those long toddler days when the mood in the house would get thick — tantrums, resistance, overstimulation (from both of us). And then… I’d run the bath. No matter what had just happened, the moment his little body slipped into the warm water, it was as if something reset. He’d soften. He’d laugh. He’d play. I could breathe again. And just like that, the whole vibe of the house would change. It didn’t just work for him — it worked for me too. Every time. Still does.
Water takes on our energy and washes it away — like it knows it doesn’t belong there.
Now I use it intentionally.
Shower off after a hard conversation.
Soak my feet when I feel stuck.
Swim when I’m sad.
Cry when I need to let something go.
Water is always available. Even if it's just splashing your face or rinsing your wrists in cold water at the sink. It’s an invitation to cleanse — not just physically, but spiritually. Mystically. It reminds us to flow, to feel, to be renewed.
If you're feeling heavy, if your energy feels clogged,
go to the water.
Step in. Let it move through you.
Do it for your health.
Do it for your spirit.
Do it for your two-year-old self who still lives inside you, waiting for the bath.
