Chaga
Why Chaga is Magic for Your Skin
If you’re looking to bring a little forest magic into your skincare ritual, let me introduce you to one of nature’s best-kept secrets: Chaga. This wild mushroom, found growing on birch trees in northern forests, is packed with skin-loving properties—and I’ve been busy blending it into a brand-new Chaga face toner, handmade and hand-harvested right here in the Catskill Mountains.
Let’s dive into what makes Chaga so special for your skin ✨
🍄 What is Chaga?
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a type of fungus that thrives on birch trees in cold climates. Though it looks like a chunk of charcoal on the outside, its inner golden core is filled with powerful antioxidants, minerals, and betulinic acid—an incredible combo for skincare.
🌟 Benefits of Chaga for Your Skin
Chaga isn’t just folklore—it’s backed by centuries of traditional use and modern curiosity. Here's why it's becoming a beloved ingredient in natural skincare:
-
Rich in Antioxidants: Helps protect the skin from free radical damage and signs of aging.
-
Soothes Inflammation: Known to calm irritated or sensitive skin, making it great for conditions like redness or dryness.
-
Supports Skin Regeneration: Encourages cellular repair and renewal for a healthier glow.
-
Fights Environmental Stressors: A natural defense shield for skin exposed to pollution, wind, and sun.
✨ The Catskills Connection
The Chaga used in my Chaga face toner is ethically hand-harvested in the Catskill Mountains, NY, from the same forest paths I walk barefoot in spring. I take care to gather it sustainably and with gratitude, allowing the trees to continue thriving.
From there, it’s slowly infused into a gentle, witch hazel base to create a toner that feels grounding, balancing, and just a little bit enchanted. Each bottle is handmade in small batches, crafted with love and intention.
💧 How to Use the Chaga Face Toner
This toner is designed to be used daily, morning and night, after cleansing. It’s also lovely as a midday skin refresher or calming face mist—especially after time outdoors.
Mist onto clean skin, breathe in the foresty goodness, and pat gently to absorb. You can follow up with your favorite oil or moisturizer.
🌲 Why You'll Love It
If your skin is feeling stressed, tired, or just craving something more natural and nourishing, this Chaga face toner is like a walk through the woods in a bottle. It's uplifting, purifying, and a gentle reminder to slow down and reconnect with nature.
I made a strong infusion of the Chaga in Witch Hazel - triple filtered it and then starting mixing! I've had a couple of ingredients for a while that I've been wanting to play with and this was the perfect opportunity to do so! Stay tuned for more on Dragons Blood & Microalgae!
